The Truth About Forever.

I fell in love with leisure reading in middle school. My then best friend showed me the wonderful world of opportunities at Barnes and Noble. That's when I discovered the beauty of literature or more specifically, Sarah Dessen's literature. It might seem silly to call novels written by a young-adult writer literature but I believe what I believe. I think what I loved most about her writing is that she wrote about the trials and tribulations of adolescence which made it easy to relate to what her characters were going through. My favorites were "This Lullaby" and "The Truth About Forever." I still re-read my favorite parts of her books and when I do, it feels like visiting the past. Dessen has this...I don't even have words to describe him...but she has this character named Wes. Wes is like gravity--everything and everyone gets pulled to him. Not only is he physically beautiful (he is often the subject of eye candy at a party he attends), he is charming, responsible, kind, and illuminating. What I love most about Wes is that he detests the idea of superficiality. One day while Wes is spending quality time with the main character, Macy, he tells her "Just because someone's pretty doesn't mean she's decent. Or vice versa. I'm not into appearances. I like flaws, I think they make things interesting." It is dumb and naïve that this fictional character gives me some kind of hope that men like this exist out there in the world?

speaking about flaws, I have one flaw that I cannot seem to change. Progress seems virtually nonexistent. I tend to trust people too easily and as a result I get screwed over in one way or another. I'm not being negative, i'm being honest and i'm certainly not playing the victim. I'm agreeing it's completely my fault. I make this mistake time and time again and yet I never seem to learn. I look to a friend I have for inspiration because he plays it the smart way but I just can't seem to nip this habit in the bud.

All in all these things just remind me that I am also a work in progress. I'm blessed to have people in my life, like my family and friends, who are patient enough to let me learn the hard way and support me as I learn. I just hope I can pay it forward and give that same support for others in my life.

This is a story of boy meets girl, but you should know upfront, this is not a love story

this isn't a love story, but it is a story of life--a story about the raw, harsh realities of love. There's canoodling, kissing, loving and handholding but it is definitely not a love story that has a typical "girl realizes she loves the boy and confesses to him in a crowded room full of onlookers" ending. no, in fact, he doesn't even get the girl in the end. (sorry if you didn't want this movie, I just ruined the ending)

To be quite honest, I hated summer but I understood her. She wasn't a compelling character. She had no dreams, no aspirations, no goals. She represented a character that carried multiple reservations and skepticisms about love and Tom, poor Tom, just wanted to be the man that changed her perception on love. Yet, he isn't. But it is through him that she learns to love. Confused yet? Just watch it. I have never watched another movie quite like this.

in an ending scene in the movie Tom asks summer why not him? Why couldn't she ever feel that kind of way, that kind of love with him? and she replies...

“One day I woke up and I just knew.”
“Knew what?”
"What I was never sure of when I was with you"

how'd you like to hear that coming from the man or woman that you still love but who dumped you and married someone else?
i'd feel like someone stabbed me and then twisted the knife.

that's what.

supermassive black hole

We are all given choices.
I just don't know if I can live with the consequences of those choices.

Tell me what you want to hear
Something that were like those years
Sick of all the insincere
So I'm gonna give all my secrets away
This time, don't need another perfect line
Don't care if critics never jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away

the wisdom of meredith grey:
When we're heading towards an outcome that's too horrible to face, that's when we go looking for a second opinion. Sometimes, the answer we get just confirms our worst fears but sometimes, it can shed new light on the problem. Make you see it in a whole new way. After all the opinions have been heard and every point of view has been considered, you finally find what you were after, the truth. But the truth isn't where it ends , that's just where you begin again with a whole new set of questions

Lexie: Grief may be a thing we all have in common, but it looks different on everyone.
Mark: It isn't just death we have to grieve. It's life. It's loss. It's change.
Alex: And when we wonder why it has to suck so much sometimes, has to hurt so bad. The thing we gotta try to remember is that it can turn on a dime.
Izzie: That's how you stay alive. When it hurts so much you can't breathe, that's how you survive.
Derek: By remembering that one day, somehow, impossibly, you won't feel this way. It won't hurt this much.
Bailey: Grief comes in its own time for everyone, in its own way.
Owen: So the best we can do, the best anyone can do, is try for honesty.
Meredith: The really crappy thing, the very worst part of grief is that you can't control it.
Arizona: The best we can do is try to let ourselves feel it when it comes.
Callie: And let it go when we can.
Meredith: The very worst part is that the minute you think you're past it, it starts all over again.
Cristina: And always, every time, it takes your breath away.
Meredith: There are five stages of grief. They look different on all of us, but there are always five.
Alex: Denial.
Derek: Anger.
Bailey: Bargaining.
Lexie: Depression.
Richard: Acceptance.

make this go on forever

spontaneity. without it, i cannot survive. for what is college without it? these are the best college nights. "being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up, these are the best days of our lives."

I missed all of the shooting stars. everyone was ooh-ing and ah-ing left and right--everyone but me. they would magically appear while I was in the midst of changing the song on my ipod or just closing my eyes. countless times the four others I was with would scream and say, "THERE'S ANOTHER ONE! DID YOU SEE IT?!" and every time I was the only one who replied, "Dangit, I missed it AGAIN." I was so determined at first to see one but with each failed attempt I became more and more discouraged. Just as I was about to give up hope, I saw it. A small streak of light, blazing across the purple sky. It was so quick, I thought I had imagined it at first. It was even better than I had imagined. I watched it silently, stunned by the beauty of its presence. I then turned excitedly and asked if anyone else had seen it. Nobody else had. I felt a little sad, wishing I could share the shooting star with another. I kept a hawk-like watch for others that happened to rain upon the sky and then FINALLY all five of us saw the same shooting star. The moment was somehow so magical to me. It started to get colder and our hands shook as we packed up all of our belongings and headed down towards the parking lot. I took one more look back at the night sky and thought about the shooting star I had seen alone. It wasn't the brightest or fastest. It wasn't even the largest. But it was still special nonetheless. A beautiful ray of hope that something bigger than us was out in the universe. It was the first time I had ever been graced with the presence of a natural wonder. I smiled and thought that maybe, just maybe, it was okay that I alone saw that shooting star. maybe I could keep one to myself.

what started out as an ordinary studying session turned to this.
i live for nights like these.....and suffer the consequences in the morning. I don't really care, though. It's worth it.
